So, I was sort of introduced to the Hairstory brand by a friend of mine that suggested Hairstory when I was talking to her about products that do NOT have silicones in them and she suggested this brand to me and the, "New Wash". Said it was a neat product. As sort of a preface, I cannot use hair care products in my hair that contain silicone or dimethicone (I try to avoid all forms of silicone in my hair products). As a side note, Dimethicone is a silicone-based polymer used as a lubricant and conditioning agent. And, it can actually be found in both skincare and haircare products. And silicone is in all types of products from shampoos, conditioners, leave in conditioners, and even texturizing sprays...Â
At the beginning of the year, I went through an overhaul of my entire bathroom. While I was not buying new products with silicone, I didn't realize some of my tried and true products contained some form of it (even my hair oil). So I read every ingredient list in my bathroom (and when you are a hair product lover that was fun) and gave away a lot of half full bottles... I found even the most famous products used to tame hair contain silicone and silicones just have the opposite effect on my head! It dries my hair out and eventually makes it almost impossible to brush as my hair will just TANGLE. After some asking around and internet sleuthing on why my hair was in such bad shape (it's also damaged from being over processed, so that doesn't help) I found that oftentimes silicone can be the culprit so to test the theory, I cut it out of my regimine. And low and behold, my hair was almost like new hair when I cut it out of my routine. Still damaged, but started to feel like hair again.Â
So about March, I caved and bought Hairstory, even after trying other brands that were silicone free... IÂ did not purchase it sooner, because I liked picking up a product in-store and having the luxury of knowing it's closeby if I ran out... But Hairstory has autoship! So I will never run out!!! And trust, you will NOT want to run out. Happened once and IÂ went back to my old shampoo and conditioner... it was not pretty...Â
So, New Wash is not like your mother's shampoo. It is a one step process and it's really more like a cream wash than shampoo. With your first order you get a little silicone scrubber - that little thing will become your best friend. There are 3 options - Original, Rich, and Deep. Original is for normal combination hair, Rich is for those that are on the dry side, and Deep is for those that are on the oilier side and need more clean.Â
You know how I said it was a more like a cream wash than a shampoo, well that is because it is sort of like the consistency of a conditioner than shampoo and it DOES-NOT-SUD. I repeat, It does not get sudsy and FOAM! Aka no shampoo bubblesssss! But your head will never feel so clean, I promise (if you follow the directions I'm going to give you). To activate the agents in the wash to clean your hair, you will still need to scrub your head and that's where the little scrubber guy/shower brush comes into play.Â
To wash your hair with New Wash:Â wet hair Distribute from root to ends - working with your fingers from your scalp to the tip of your hair. Use the shower brush/scrubber to distribute and activate the cleaning ingredients. This is the time where IÂ massage my entire scalp with the scrubber and work it from root to tip. IÂ also will comb my hair while damp in the shower with a shower comb. Rinsing, in my opinion, takes a little longer than normal shampoo. I also use the shower brush again to make sure I get all the product off my scalp. And that's it. One step and done.
I have noticed a big difference in my hair from March to July using this and I'm so glad I clicked buy on it! My hair couldn't be happier. This is what a package from Hairstory looks like and a brief overview of the products in about 3-ish minutes, below. To purchase; https://bit.ly/hairstoryline
